Go Kelly - Idol's first winner will defend the show, or what else? Sell jewlery on the border? Kelly Clarkson posted a blog Thursday firing back at Big Machine Records CEO Scott Borchetta, who slammed "Idol" earlier in the week while defending the GRAMMY performance by his artist, Taylor Swift. Clarkson says, quote, "I understand you defending your artist obviously because I have done the same in the past for artists I like, including Taylor, so you might see why it's upsetting to read you attacking 'American Idol' for producing simply vocalists that hit 'the high notes.'" Clarkson goes on to say that every artist, including herself, has bad performances once in a while. She recommends Borchetta, quote, "Should simply take a break and realize that sometimes things won't go according to plan or work out and that's okay. "
Newspaper critics panned Swift's Sunday night GRAMMY performance with classic rock legend Stevie Nicks. "Los Angeles Times" critic Ann Powers called it "strikingly bad." "The Washington Post's" Chris Richards said, quote, "A night with the charmed life of Taylor Swift: Give an incredibly wretched vocal performance, go on to win the biggest GRAMMY of 2010, anyway." Swift picked up the GRAMMY for Album of the Year for "Fearless," as well as three other GRAMMYs.
