DALLAS (Reuters) - Daniel Sedin's tie-breaking goal off an assist by twin brother Henrik powered the surging Vancouver Canucks to a 3-1 victory over the Dallas Stars on Saturday.

Daniel Sedin broke a 1-1 deadlock with a powerplay tally 2:38 into the third period when his shot ricocheted off Stars defenseman Trevor Daley's skate.

Alexandre Burrows added an empty netter with 17 seconds to play as Vancouver won for the ninth time in 12 games.

Canucks netminder Roberto Luongo had 31 saves, including a clutch stop with his right pad off Dallas' Mike Modano's one-timer with 6:06 left in the game and Vancouver ahead 2-1.

"I actually didn't see him and it was kind of a desperation play by me there," Luongo told reporters.

"I didn't even see the shot go off or the puck, I just put my leg out there and was able to get my skate on it, actually," Luongo added.

"It was just a reaction and fortunately, I got a piece of it."

The victory gave Vancouver a 3-0-1 record on its four-game road trip.

BIG SAVES

"We got seven out of eight points," Canucks coach Alain Vigneault said after Vancouver played its fifth game in eight days.

"The third period was a little challenging... That's why you pay the goalie the big money to make big saves. And he did."

Dallas fired 14 shots at Luongo in the third and the Canadian Olympic selection stopped 13 of them.

Henrik Sedin also assisted on Burrows' goal, giving him 36 for the season. Ryan Kesler scored the Canucks' other goal early in the second period and had an assist on Burrows' goal.

Loui Eriksson had leveled for Dallas 37 seconds into the third.

The Stars thought they had an earlier goal on a shot by Brenden Morrow in the second but after a video review, officials waved it off, saying Murrow had used a "distinct kicking motion" to get the puck in the net.

"I didn't really see it, but the way that the rule stands, I propelled it into the net," Morrow said. "It did go off my skate."

Marty Turco stopped 24 shots for the Stars, who had won their previous two games.
