Plan To Distribute Firekeepers Money To Be Discussed Today

BATTLE CREEK (WKZO) -- A local board established to decide how to spend the Firekeepers Casino money that will be shared with local governments will meet again this morning to see if it can compromise on the rules for distribution of the money. Two percent of the revenue from slot machines is given to the local board. They recently got a $1.93-million check for the first 6 months.

The plan is to reimburse local governments for any costs or losses in tax revenue caused by the Casino, and the rest is to be divided by a formula. Settling on that formula is the final piece of the puzzle. They meet this morning in the Chambers of the County board
