UNDATED (WKZO) -- With Temperatures in the 50’s it should be painfully obvious that this is no time to go wander out onto the ice on southern Michigan lakes. According to Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard caution is the word of the day when venturing out onto the ice. He says it is critical to be prepared with a couple of things.
If you are with someone who goes through the ice, Sheriff Bouchard says the first thing you should do is lay down and spread your weight so you don’t go in next. Always carry a cell phone with you so that you can call 911 in case of emergency.
