Hartford Girl’s Condition Upgraded

HARTFORD (WKZO) --A young girl from Van Buren County has been upgraded from critical to serious condition at Bronson Hospital after she was run down by a car, while her horrified father watched, and could do nothing.

The sheriff’s department says that last evening on 80th Avenue in Keeler Township, a passenger van driven by Hartford resident David Curl had stopped to let his daughter, Sarah Curl, get out and retrieve mail from their mailbox when a green 1998 Saturn driven by 17 year-old Cory Merfield, also of Hartford, swerved around them to pass. Sarah ran out in front of Merfield’s car and was struck. The accident is still under investigation.
